AIMS AND ORGANISATION

The aims of the Cambridge History Forum are to:

Forge links between historians and teachers of History in schools and colleges (in order to help teachers keep abreast of the latest developments in History)

Encourage and support students of History at all levels.

Stimulate and support an interest in History in the local community.

The Forum achieves these aims by organising an annual Conference, consisting of contributions from historians, usually on a themed topic, which is open to students and members of the public. The Conference is non profit-making but is expected to generate sufficient income to cover expenses.

The Forum is run by a committee consisting of academic historians and teachers of History. The President and Chairman is always a History Fellow of a College of Cambridge University.

The most recent conference took place on Saturday 13th March, 2010, on the theme of:

The Fall of Tyrants?

  • Dr David Smith (Selwyn College, Cambridge): The Fall of the British Republic
  • Dr Philip Morgan (Hull University): The Fall and Fall of Mussolini

The next conference will take place on Saturday 19th March, 2011 at Selwyn College, Cambridge
